Harness protection and organization in constrained environments

In the automotive industry, every detail matters. For automotive manufacturers and suppliers, performance does not rely only on major visible innovations, but also on the most discreet technical components.

This is where Joubert Group’s FlexTex PES-B expandable textile sleeve comes in: a technical textile solution designed to meet the requirements of protection, flexibility and durability in automotive applications.

An expandable structure for optimal adaptability

One of the main features of this sleeve is its expansion capability:

    • Diameter expandability up to twice its initial size
    • Automatic length reduction as the diameter expands
    • Easy installation, even on complex harnesses with bends, connectors or section changes

This flexibility enables fast integration into automotive equipment, without bends or folds, while ensuring good retention around the protected components.

    Technical materials for maximum resistance

Made from polyester monofilament, FlexTex PES-B is:

    • Lightweight yet highly abrasion-resistant
    • Self-extinguishing: FMVSS 302 compliance on request
    • Halogen-free, making it safer in the event of fire
    • Stable against UV, humidity and mold

These properties make it an ideal solution for sensitive vehicle areas, particularly in engine environments or wheel arches, where mechanical and chemical constraints are strongest.

FlexTex PES-B has been designed to provide complete protection in line with the expectations of automotive suppliers. It meets both manufacturing constraints and real operating conditions.

    Thermal insulation and fluid resistance

It withstands continuous temperatures from -50°C to +150°C, with peaks up to 220°C. It has passed bending tests at -70°C without cracking, according to IEC 60684, making it a benchmark solution for extreme climate conditions.

It is also compatible with all tested automotive fluids: gasoline, diesel, DOT5 brake fluid, antifreeze, engine oil, windshield washer fluid, etc. Its chemical resistance is a real asset for under-hood applications or areas close to tanks and pumps.

    Mechanical and acoustic protection

    FlexTex PES-B offers:

    • Excellent abrasion resistance: over 45,000 cycles according to SAE ARP 1536
    • Protection against impacts and vibrations, thanks to the flexible braided structure
    • Noise reduction of over 10 dB, improving acoustic comfort inside the cabin

These characteristics are essential for automotive manufacturers seeking to reduce noise disturbance while ensuring the longevity of harnesses and electrical components.

    Compliance and environmental commitment

    • Compliant with IEC/EN 60684 standards
    • RoHS compliant
    • Classified as non-ecotoxic, although not easily biodegradable

It is therefore part of a responsible approach, essential in today’s technical solutions for the automotive industry.

A simple-to-install solution designed for integrators

Designed to meet the constraints of production and maintenance lines, FlexTex PES-B easily adapts to industrial environments.

    Easy installation

    • Fast installation without specific tooling
    • Conforms to irregular shapes without folds or excessive tension
    • Adaptable to all geometries: connectors, bends, harness branches

This ease of use makes it a preferred solution for automotive suppliers on their assembly lines.

    Adapted industrial packaging

    • Available in 13 nominal diameters: from 3 to 50 mm, expandable up to 84 mm
    • Spools from 25 to 250 m, depending on diameter
    • Thermal cutting recommended to prevent fraying

Custom cutting, personalized colors or kit preconditioning options are available to optimize integration on production lines or for after-sales service.

Textile sleeve for cable routing and protection in industrial and automotive applications
Slotted resealable tubing for cable insertion and protection in industrial and automotive applications

    Automotive quality and compliance

Protective sleeves are validated according to strict mechanical and environmental requirements.

    • Abrasion tests: SAE standard
    • Thermal validation: -50°C to +150°C
    • Chemical tests: automotive fluids
    • Dimensional and expandability control
    • Compliance with IEC / EN 60684 and RoHS standards

Each batch is traced to guarantee reproducibility in production.
